Jasper is my 7 year old nephew, also one of my best friends. I have wanted to do his portrait since he was born, but technically and artistically creating a digital child is perhaps the biggest challenge in 3d. Children are drastically different than adults, their skin reacts differently to light, the pores are softer, and the proportions are different. Every aspect in making his portrait broke rules I had previously learned in digital portraiture. With him being one of the most important people in my life I realized I had to put aside my fears and just attempt to make the portrait. It turned out to be one of my favorites.
Created in Maya, AutodeskMudbox, ChaosV-Ray, with NVIDIA graphic cards. No scans.
